What does Porsche PDK stand for? | Porsche answers your most popular questions

PDK is an abbreviation for one of the most complicated German words.

Do you know what it stands for?

PDK stands for Porsche Doppelkupplungs Getriebe, which translates to Porsche Double-Clutch Transmission in English.

Introduced in the 1960's, the origin of the PDK began with Porsche's early experiments in motorsports, later to be included in the 956 group C racing car in the 1980's.

in the mid 2000's, the PDK found it's way to consumers via the Porsche 911 997 series, and it continues to be one of the most advanced and dynamic transmission options available in a road going sports car.
